VP OSIBANJO INSISTS – TINUBU NOMINATED ME FOR VICE PRESIDENT  EVEN WHEN RCCG WAS RELUCTANT

Vice president Yemi Osinbajo says Tinubu nominated him Vanguard quotes Osinbajo as saying during a State of the Nation Address convened by Coalition of Nigerian Apostolic Leaders in Lagos on Friday, November 4 that RCCG was reluctant for him to take the position but Tinubu got the church to change its mind.

Although Osinbajo did not mention Tinubu’s name, his description of the person that helped him get to the position was clearly the All Progressives Congress (APC) big shot. “An APC National Leader who had served when he was governor was interested in putting me forward as the running mate of President Muhammadu Buhari in consensus with other national leaders of the party.

“I was a product of this system (Coalition Leaders). The church was reluctant and I understood why the church was reluctant. The church was looking at the head of the ticket (President). This is our first opportunity. This is our first shot at it.

“We need to maximize it and do the best we can. I think what my nomination and appointment have done is that it has open the door for us. We can do it and we can be influential in doing it.”

Meanwhile, the crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) deepened on Friday, November 4 as reports emerged that the party’s deputy national publicity secretary Timi Frank is set to be kicked out.

Daily Trust reports that a five-man disciplinary committee constituted by South-South zonal leadership of the party recommended that Frank be first suspended, then kicked out of the APC.
